Purpose: The Dr. Donald L. Parman and Nadyne J. Parman Indiana Challenge Match Scholarship was established by their son Steven R. Parman and their daughter-in-law Denise M. Parman. Donald Parman is Professor Emeritus in the Department of History at Purdue University. His area of expertise is twentieth century Native American affairs and he is the author of several books including Navajos and the New Deal (1976) and Indians and the American West in the Twentieth Century (1994).

Criteria and selection: Selected by the Undergraduate Committee appointed by the Head of the Department of History, all with the approval of the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, student must be an undergraduate history major. The eligible student must be an Indiana resident and have a program (major) index of at least 3.0 and a graduation index of at least 3.0. 

Award:  The recipient receives a generous fee reimbursement in the following academic year.
